INTRODUCTION

On 20 July 1992, the Post Office of Moldova (Poșta Moldovei) issued a series of postage stamps with the title Supersonic Airliner (I). The issue comprises four stamps, with associated cancellation (postmark) and first day cover (FDC). The designer was Pal Varaga. The printing was performed by Hungarian State Printers, Budapest.

Only two, Concorde and the Tupolev Tu-144, were ever designed for civil use as airliners. Fighter jets are the most common example of supersonic aircraft, although they don't always travel at supersonic speed. Read more..
