575th Anniversary of Chişinău City


INTRODUCTION

On 13 October 2011, the Post Office of Moldova (Poșta Moldovei) issued a series of postage stamps with the title 575th Anniversary of Chişinău City. The issue comprises five stamps, with associated cancellation (postmark) and first day cover (FDC). The designer was Alexandru Kornienco. The printing was performed by Tipografia Centrală, Chişinău.

Chișinău (/ˌkɪʃɨˈnaʊ/ Romanian pronunciation: [kiʃiˈnəw]; historically also known as Kishinev, from Russian: Кишинёв) is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Moldova. It is Moldova's main industrial and commercial centre, and is located in the middle of the country, on the river Bîc.
